This is the end of my first week of writing this blog, and I’d like to say thank you to everyone who took the time to read it. I really appreciate your support! Please let me know if you have any questions or comments, or if there is anything you would like to see on the blog in the future.

And now, for my week in review.

Earlier in the week, I took photos for my first style post The Trials of Wearing Bandanas. Like many people, I had never considered how much effort goes into style posts on blogs until I ended up with photos like this.

It goes without saying that it took more than one shot to get the photos that ended up in the post.

The best thing I ate this week was the Chicken Thing from Gorilla Cheese. I try to catch that incredible grilled cheese food truck anytime it’s in the area (and I’ve tracked it down a few times when it wasn’t), and I am happy to approve the Chicken Thing. To my vegetarian friends, Gorilla Cheese offers great meat free options. And to my meat loving friends, bacon can be added to anything.

This one has chicken, buffalo sauce and mozzarella. Brilliant. My wonderful coworker and former high school classmate Seraphina had a grilled cheese with Doritos, jalapenos and cheddar.Image

In recent weeks I’ve added morning runs to my fitness routine. I like to go at around six in the morning, especially on days when the trails are still muddy. Since there’s no one around, I’m able to fist bump when the music I’m listening to requires I do, without concern for public judgment. All of my recent running was in preparation for Color Me Rad.

This is the aftermath of the most colourful 5K I’ve ever done, and I loved running with Becca, one of my best friends in the world. We hadn’t run a 5K together since high school cross country!

It was the happiest 5K I’ve ever done too. I recommend any run that involves coloured powder!

Among the sadder moments in my week, NBA season is now over with the Heat’s defeat of the Spurs. I loved that series, and I loved watching some of all time greats play their best. Though LeBron’s performance was incredible, I was sad to watch the Spurs lose! Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili make such an incredible trio, and it was amazing watching Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green take off. Now I have four months to wait until the return of basketball. These are long months for basketball fans.

In my life beyond basketball — yes, I do have a life beyond basketball — I listened to Kanye West’s Yeezus for the first time today. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet, but as a friend and I discussed, some albums just take a few more listens. In an exercise of restraint and maturity, no comment about North West.

I finished Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut today, and I leave you with a line from that brilliant novel that makes such an interesting examination of the meaning of life.

“Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt.”

Song of the Day: Black Skinhead by Kanye West
